CHP in Hospitals for Critical Infrastructure Resiliency, Disaster Recovery, and Community Sustainability
September 22
Register for this Free Webinar Today!

A free webinar, “Combined Heat and Power (CHP)/Cogeneration in Hospitals for Critical Infrastructure Resiliency, Disaster Recovery, and Community Sustainability,” will be held on Thursday, September 22, from 2:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m. EDT.

This webinar will feature information on economically viable and technically feasible CHP applications for hospital campuses. A unique aspect of this webinar will be a focus on CHP's role in business continuity, on-site power reliability, and planning to operate through natural disasters or emergency situations where electric power from the utility is not otherwise available.

Register now!

The program will feature presentations by:

  • Dr. Dana L. Levy, D.Eng., P.E., Industrial Research Program Manager,
    New York State
Energy and Research Development Authority NYSERDA recently announced the availability of $5.5 million to support the installation and demonstration of CHP systems at New York facilities. NYSERDA would provide 30-50 percent of the total project cost up to $1 million for the selected projects. Dr. Levy will present information about this opportunity and proposed future funding. Applications are due October 4, 2011; additional details are available www.nyserda.org.
  • Jennifer Kearney, Partner, Gotham 360 LLC
Prior to forming Gotham 360, Ms. Kearney served as the director of Energy Programs for New York-Presbyterian Hospital, where she was responsible for the development and construction of a 7.5 MW synchronous gas turbine cogeneration system, the first of its kind in the borough of Manhattan. Her efforts resulted in savings in excess of $11 million annually, and national recognition by the U.S. EPA as the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year five times.
  • John Moynihan, P.E., Senior Project Manager with COGEN Power Technologies—a Bette & Cring Company
Currently developing a new 4.8 MW CHP project at Albany Medical Center, Mr. Moynihan has been widely recognized for an innovative energy project in Utica that now provides power to Utica College, the St. Luke’s campus of Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare, and an affiliated nursing home, saving several hundred thousand dollars a year in energy costs.

This webinar is the first in a series designed to educate consumers, emergency management personnel, and other interested stakeholders on CHP’s role in providing business continuity, resiliency, and a higher level of operating capability to critical infrastructure facilities during an emergency situation. Registration is currently available for all three webinars:
